By Train: The closest major city is Füssen. You can take a train from Munich to Füssen (about 2 hours). From Füssen, local buses or taxis can take you to Hohenschwangau.

Arriving in Füssen
Upon arriving in Füssen, you can immediately feel the fairy-tale vibe. The streets, lined with colorful buildings, exuded old-world charm. You can paused here to admire the local architecture, stroll through the quaint market square, bustling with locals and visitors alike.

You can indulge in a delicious slice of apple strudel from a nearby bakery, before catching the shuttle bus to the trailhead for Neuschwanstein Castle. This short yet scenic ride treated will give you glimpses of Bavaria’s stunning landscapes, heightening your anticipation.
The Hike to the Castle
Once you arrive in Hohenschwangau, the real adventure begins! Set your sights on the hiking trail leading to Neuschwanstein Castle. The trail is well-marked and offers various viewpoints along the way. Here’s what to expect:
